Annual General Meeting (AGM) Sunday 20th October at 2.00pm sharp
We remind all our financial Members to please attend the AGM to be held at the Club rooms on Sunday 20th October at 2.00pm sharp. Members must be financial by that date to attend (payment can be made on the day). Members who attend the AGM will receive a free copy of the Veneto Club’s 50th Anniversary book.
At this year’s AGM we will be discussing some very important topics that are crucial to the future of the Club. As you may be aware, Robert Griffante will be stepping down from the position of President. However, if the members elect to retain Robert on the Committee, he will be pleased to remain in an advisory role and provide guidance to the next nominated President and new committee members.
If you are interested in nominating to join the management committee, please complete a nomination form which must be delivered to the office personally or via email 7 days prior to the AGM. Any nominations received after 13th October will not be accepted. For catering purposes, please contact or email the office (Luisa) no later than 10th October during office hours on 8268 1490 or by email info@venetoclubadelaide.com.au.
We strongly urge our financial members to attend the AGM and actively take part in this highly significant yearly occasion. The AGM provides an opportunity for all members to gain insights into the Club’s overall performance, allows members to actively exercise their voting rights on crucial resolutions and play an integral role in the continued success and growth of the Club.
Charitable Foundation
The Management Committee has previously raised the issue at AGMs that, despite the Club’s strong net asset position, it is essential to implement necessary safeguards in anticipation of a potential decline in future membership numbers. This proactive approach is aimed at securing a robust framework for the Club and its members in the long term. In addition to providing entertainment and social events and access to sporting activities to foster Italian culture, the Management Committee considers it important to offer valuable services to the Members and the broader community by undertaking additional activities, such as providing educational scholarships, access to transport, home care assistance and promoting the well-being of its members of all ages. The Members have at previous AGMs endorsed the Management Committee’s wish to proceed with establishing the Veneto Club Foundation Ltd as the “vehicle” to undertake these types of activities.
The “Foundation” will be established as a not-for-profit company and registered as a charity with the Australian Charities and Not-for-Profits Commission (ACNC). It is proposed that there will be four initial directors who will also be members of the Foundation. By establishing the Foundation, the Veneto Club can ensure its assets are safeguarded to continue actively and effectively serving the community, whilst also offering it the opportunity to access certain tax concessions.
At the AGM on 20th October, Members will be asked to consider, and if thought fit, pass the following resolutions:
Apply to register the Veneto Club Foundation Ltd as a charity with the ACNC.
